About the Park

This Six Flags park is conveniently located a twenty minute drive north of downtown Atlanta and unlike many popular theme park destinations, it is designed specifically for younger guests. Rides are family-friendly and many are only available to guests under a maximum height restriction, rather than the more common minimum height requirement at more intense parks. This allows younger guests to fully experience all the thrills and excitement the park has to offer, rather than being restricted to designated kiddie areas and junior attractions that only whet the appetite for more fun.

Rides

American Adventures features many popular amusement park rides that are designed on a smaller scale than their full-size counterparts, making them suitable for young thrill seekers. A railroad circles the park, offering a great overview of fun rides such as colorful balloons, circling planes, bumper cars, a giant slide, swings, a crazy school bus, a Scrambler, and roving trucks. Some of the park’s most popular attractions include:

  • Chuckwagon Wheel: This themed Ferris wheel has a western flair that will appeal to any cowpoke.
  • Ridgeline Racer: This family-friendly steel coaster has gentle dips and curves for everyone to enjoy.
  • The Foam Factory: This 40,000 square foot, multi-level funhouse has foam balls, launchers, targets, and other soft features to explore.

Food

Kids love corn dogs!

Guests young and old alike can work up an appetite on so many fun rides, and the food at American Adventures in Georgia is also popular with kids. Rather than offer exotic and unusual dishes that kids may reject, the park focuses on kids’ favorite treats such as corn dogs, pizza, chicken tenders, popcorn, and ice cream. To ensure that kids don’t skip lunch, parents can purchase meal vouchers online before visiting the park so that kids can choose their favorites even if they’ve spent all their pocket money on games or souvenirs. Families who prefer to bring their own food can take advantage of the shaded picnic areas just outside the main gate, though no outside food or beverages may be brought into the park.

Shows

American Adventures offers great family entertainment, including a cool arcade, the Hidden Harbor miniature golf course, and a popular magic show. While children may not want to sit still for shows when there are so many fun rides and attractions to explore, parents will be entertained by the delighted smiles on their children’s faces as they ride, whirl, and slide to their heart’s content.

Family Friendly Features

In keeping with the family-oriented philosophy of the park, American Adventures has several policies in place to ensure families have a great time. Most rides are either suitable for small children to ride alone or they can ride when accompanied by a responsible adult. The park is also smoke-free except for one designated smoking area near the decorative lighthouse. Mothers who breastfeed can find nursing stations in the First Aid center. Park hours are also family-friendly, and the park opens between 10 a.m. and noon depending on the day of the week, and it closes at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. The operating season runs from April through October, though in the spring and fall the park is only open on weekends.

Visiting American Adventures in Georgia

When visiting a theme park with young children, it is important to follow some common sense tips to be sure that everyone has a great time.

  • Do not force a child onto a ride they are scared of or aren’t willing to ride. Unfamiliar attractions can be frightening, and a scary ride can ruin an otherwise enjoyable vacation.
  • Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated; young children become dehydrated much more quickly than adults.
  • Wear plenty of sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect delicate skin from painful burns.
  • Set up an easy to find meeting place in case family members get separated.

Tickets

American Adventure has no park admission prices, and the cost for various attractions ranges from $2.50 to $7. Bulk ticket discounts are available for certain attractions and arcade tokens.
