Cedar Point Park Map
From LoveToKnow Themeparks
A Cedar Point park map is a useful tool when visiting Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, and the park’s colorful maps have a long history not only as navigational aids, but also as affordable and unique souvenirs.
Map Styles
There are several different styles of park maps available for Cedar Point, and being familiar with the different types can help eager guests choose the best map for their thrill-seeking search.
Brochures
The park’s free brochures have fold-out cartoon maps with all major rides, shops, and restaurants clearly marked. These informational maps also include basic markings for park services such as restrooms, first aid stations, ATMs, telephones, lockers, entrance gates, and designated smoking areas. At the same time, however, the relatively small size and lack of detail on these maps can make them more difficult for inexperienced park guests to decipher. Brochures, however, include other information, such as park policies, operating calendars, and brief descriptions of shows and attractions that can make them valuable to visitors even if they aren’t as precise in terms of navigation.
Getaway Guides
The larger Getaway Guide brochure has a more detailed map that spans two pages and includes labels for major and minor rides, shows, games, and attractions that are also color-coded and numbered for convenience. Guests who have access to a Getaway Guide (they must be requested in advance and will be mailed to interested visitors) can also take advantage of the Guide’s valuable coupons and discount offers, as well as detailed information about the park’s resorts and other attractions, such as Soak City and Challenge Park.
Poster Maps
The most popular type of Cedar Point park map is the oversized poster design that measures 21 by 31 inches with a vertical format. These maps have all the park’s attractions, restaurants, and shows clearly labeled in the fun, colorful design, with details distinct enough for easy navigation and use. Furthermore, these maps are only $1 and make admirable souvenirs. New poster maps are printed each year, and for more than 25 years Cedar Point has used the poster format. The interior of the maps makes them even more collectible because new ride trivia, logos, artist drawings, schematics, and panoramic photos are often printed in the opening fold. Today, many park enthusiasts have preserved older maps as valuable collectibles that showcase the changes the park has undergone over the years, and they are often hot commodities to other park fans.
You Are Here Maps
At strategic locations throughout the park – near restrooms, along the Main Midway, and at prominent intersections – guests will find "you are here" maps they can use to orient themselves. These maps have the same design as the collectible poster maps but also include detailed legends for greater ease.
Specialty Maps
Several specialty maps are available for Cedar Point. Brochures typically include a regional map that can help guests locate the somewhat isolated park in relation to main roads and highways. Entertainment brochures are also available that highlight only the park’s theaters and show venues while minimizing rides and games so guests can easily find the entertainment they are interested in. Even employees have specialized maps that show where different features are, such as break areas, the employee cafeteria, and divisional offices. As intriguing as these employee maps may be, however, they are not available to the general public.

Map Use Tips
There are many more ways to use a park map than just to navigate around Cedar Point or find a particular show. Ideas include:
- Plotting a route to the most popular roller coasters or attractions.
- Using the map as a checklist to be sure no rides or shows are missed.
- Setting up a meeting place in case members of a party get separated.
- Deciding which entrance gate is closest to a favorite ride.
- Finding less popular routes to rides to avoid crowds.
- Judging how to get to other areas of the resort, such as Hotel Breakers, Soak City, or the Cedar Point Marina.
Cedar Point spans more than 360 acres of midways, rides, shops, games, lagoons, and beachfront property. With so much to see and do, a Cedar Point park map is an essential tool, but the creativity of the maps and their fun designs also makes them popular souvenirs so guests can navigate their theme park getaway memories long after their visit.
