Cheap Disneyland Tickets

If you want to save a few dollars when traveling to "The Happiest Place on Earth," then you may want to find some cheap Disneyland tickets. Unfortunately, you will have a hard time finding tickets that offer large discounts on single-day passes. Most of the discounts you can receive for Disneyland are only available when purchasing multiple-day or annual passes, or on total vacation packages. But don't fret, there are a few ways you can enjoy time at the Southern California theme park without breaking the bank.

Available Discounts on Disneyland Tickets

The discounts are out there for Disneyland tickets; you just need to know where to look. The Internet really is your best best too. Just make sure the tickets you are looking to get are legitimate and not part of a scam.

Annual Passports

If you are a Southern California resident, consider purchasing an annual passport if you plan to visit Disneyland and California Adventure at least twice during a 12-month period. Any more than that, and the passes will pay for themselves. The passports come in four different levels:

  • Southern California Select: Entry to the park on 170 pre-selected days
  • Southern California: Entry on 215 pre-selected days
  • Deluxe: Entry on 315 pre-slected days
  • Premium: No blockout dates

If you purchased a one-day ticket and want to purchase an annual passport, you can apply the cost of your ticket toward the price of the annual pass. You can add parking for an entire year to your pass as well for about $59. Annual passes can also be paid for in monthly installments. Details, including blockout dates, can be found on the online.

Happy Birthday: Free Admission

Throughout 2009, Disneyland offered free admission to individuals celebrating their birthday on the day they are visiting the theme park. Proof of birth date is required (even for children) and you must register at least two weeks ahead of time at the Disneyland website.

Celebrating Volunteerism: A Free Day at Disneyland

Throughout 2010, Disneyland will award volunteers with a free one-day pass to the park. By giving one day of service to any of the participating organizations, you will receive a free admission ticket to Disneyland or California Adventure. For more information, check out the Disneyland blog.

Park Hopper Tickets

If you are planning to spend between one and five days at the resort, consider buying a park hopper ticket. This will allow you to visit both Disneyland and California Adventure for a specified number of days for a discount. Depending on how many days you purchase will decide how much of a discount you will receive. The more days you purchase, the more money you will save.

Southern California CityPass

If you plan on visiting several Southern California attractions, you can save up to 25 percent on main entrance prices. A CityPass gives you admission to:

  • Disneyland and California Adventure (three-day park hopper tickets plus early admission)
  • Universal Studios Hollywood
  • SeaWorld Adventure Park
  • San Diego Zoo or San Diego Wild Animal Park

Annual Passport Blockout Day

If you have a Southern California annual passport and are blocked out on a day you want to attend, you can still visit the park and pay a minimum fee, which is roughly half the price of a one-day ticket. You will, however, have to pay for parking. Also, if you want to upgrade your annual passport before you leave the park, you can apply the ticket fee that you paid that day toward the upgraded passport.

More Ways to Find Cheap Disneyland Tickets

If none of the above mentioned way to get free or cheap Disneyland tickets fits into your plans, there are still several other ways to receive a discount:

  • Military discounts apply to active duty, National Guard, Reserve, retired and Department of Defense employees. Proper identification is required at the main gate.
  • AAA members can save a few bucks if the tickets are purchased through one of its participating agencies.
  • Southern California college students can check with their Student Union as some discounts may apply.
  • Buy online: If you purchase tickets directly from the Disneyland website, you can receive a few dollars off your admission price.

A Final Note

If you still want to save some money at the theme park, remember you can always bring in your own food and drinks. While park employees do check bags before entering the park, they will only search your food looking for glass containers, which are prohibited. Lockers and picnic areas are available to store and eat your meals.
