Coupons for Theme Parks
From LoveToKnow Themeparks
Using discount coupons for theme park visits can help ease the financial burden of an amusement park vacation.
How Coupons Help
The fact is amusement parks are not cheap. If you are traveling from out of town, you not only have transportation costs, but lodging and meals too. Then you have the theme park tickets, parking, souvenirs and any meals or snacks you may purchase once inside the park. The best way to help alleviate the cost of such a trip would be to use discount coupons. Depending on what theme park you plan to visit, various coupons may be available, including those for:
- Admission
- Parking
- Food
- Games
- Rides
- Souvenirs or other merchandise
If you do your homework while planning your trip, you may be able to find discounts on all of these. The key knowing where to look, as well as doing the math to figure out which offer best suits your needs. While locally you may find some coupons for smaller, area theme parks, nationally, you can find discounts for:
- Disney
- Universal Studios
- Six Flags
- Busch Gardens
- Cedar Fair
- Sea World
- Legoland
- Raging Waters and other popular water parks
Many travel agencies offer discount vacation packages which will help offset some of the price of your trip, if you planning to stay at the theme park for a few days. However, if you are just planning a day trip and want a coupon to help with the price of the admission ticket, you will have to a little searching on your own for that, but with a little research, you will probably find what you are looking for.
Where to Find Discount Coupons for Theme Parks
There are only two ways to find coupons for theme parks: In person or online. While both are successful, they each offer various types of discounts.
Scour the Neighborhood
The first place you will probably look for coupons is the Internet, which is a good place to start. However, it's not the only place you will find discounts. Many local grocery stores, restaurants and even newspapers carry some form of discount coupon for area theme parks, especially during the summer months. Local attractions such as movie theaters, miniature golf courses or splash parks may also carry local theme park coupons.
For instance, some fast food restaurants in Southern California, such as Subway, McDonalds and Burger King, have carried discount coupons for Legoland, Sea World and Universal Studios, all popular West Coast attractions. During the summer months in Ohio, the local newspaper may carry a coupon for money off an admission ticket to Cedar Point. Other ways include:
- Entertainment books are great resources for local attraction and theme park coupons. Since the books are geared toward the community in which you live, there's a good chance you will find several types of coupons available for a park in your community.
- Local travel guides and brochures usually have some sort of amusement park coupon attached.
- Wholesale clubs such as Costco offer discounts to Disney, Universal Studios, Legoland and Sea World.
Look Online
Various websites offer not necessarily coupons, but discounts if you purchase your park tickets through them. You should always check the theme park's website first for a discount or special offer. If one isn't available, try one of these sites:
- AmusementPark.com offers discounts on theme parks in several major cities. The site is partners with the popular ARES Travel Agency. However, the discounted tickets will be mailed to you via Federal Express. They cannot be printed.
- MouseSavers.com shows how to get discounts at all of the Disney theme parks.
- RetailMeNot.com has various coupon codes that can be used on various theme and water park websites.
- eBay or other online auctions may have some coupons or admission tickets for sale. Make sure the seller is reputable before buying.
Final Note: More Ways to Save Money
Besides what is already noted, you can also save money on your trip to an amusement park by purchasing annual passes, bringing in our own food and drinks (most parks allow this) and going in the off-season when the crowds are smaller and you get more entertainment for your money. Carpooling to the park and doubling up in hotel rooms are still other ways to save some money on your next vacation.
