From LoveToKnow Themeparks
For thousands of visitors each day, Disneyland and Walt Disney World are fantasy destinations, and Disney theme park tickets are a magic key for a once-in-a-lifetime getaway.
Purchasing the Right Ticket
There are dozens of admission options for the various Disney parks, and it is important to investigate the different features and benefits of each one in order to find the best choice for your Disney vacation. Choosing the wrong ticket may create extra fees or inconveniences, but the right ticket becomes a personal passport to all of Disney’s wonder.
About Disney Theme Park Tickets
Different Disney parks offer different ticket packages for visitors to choose from. Walt Disney World in Florida, which includes several theme parks and other major attractions, is the larger of the two United States Disney destinations, and it therefore offers a wider range of ticket options. Guests at the Disneyland complex in California, however, also have several types of tickets to choose from to maximize their getaway to one or both Disney parks in Los Angeles. Exact ticket prices, restrictions, and conditions can vary, and prospective guests should contact the appropriate Disney theme park for updated information before they choose their Disney tickets.
Florida: Walt Disney World
The Walt Disney World complex in Orlando, Florida is the most well known Disney destination, and includes four main parks: the Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Other Disney attractions include the two Disney water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, as well as Pleasure Island Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. With so much to see and do, choosing the right ticket is essential.
The basic types of Disney tickets in Florida include:
- Magic Your Way Admission: These are the ultimate in customizable tickets, with options from a single day to 10 days worth of Disney fun (tickets expire in 14 days, even if all days have not been used). Prices vary depending on the length of the ticket and options and range from $23 to $75 per day.
- Park Hopper: This allows guests to visit all four major theme parks during each day their ticket is valid.
- Water Park & More: This type of ticket also allows admission to Disney’s other properties, including the water parks, Pleasure Island, and the Wide World of Sports Complex.
- No Expiration: This extra option eliminates the expiration date, and tickets with remaining days will never expire even if guests return years later.
- Annual Pass: Guests who want even greater flexibility than the Magic Your Way tickets can choose an annual pass that provides admission to all four parks, including parking fees and park hopper privileges, for 365 days. These basic season passes are $469 for adults and $414 for children.
- Premium Annual Pass: The premium annual pass offers guests the same park hopper and parking privileges as the basic annual pass, but also includes Pleasure Island, the water parks, and Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
Guests who order their tickets in advance can take advantage of discount offers, though shipping charges from $3-10 per order do apply based on the speed and destination of the shipping. Special events are not included with any regular Disney theme park tickets.
California: Disneyland
Disneyland theme park and Disney’s California Adventure in Los Angeles do not offer as wide a variety of attractions as the Disney complex in central Florida, but there are still plenty of options for guests to choose from. Tickets to these parks also come in several variations to give guests the opportunity to customize their vacation.
- Single Park Tickets: These basic admission tickets are valid only for one of the two parks for a single day. Prices are $69 for adults and $59 for children.
- Park Hopper Passes: These tickets provide guests admission to both parks with the privilege of switching between them when desired. Park hopper tickets are available for a one or two days, and prices range from $94 for adults and $84 for children for a one day hopper to $143 for adults and $123 for children for a two day hopper.
- Deluxe Annual Passport: This season pass is valid on 315 specified days (holidays and special events are excluded) and includes dining and resort stay discounts. Guests can add parking or stroller fees to their pass for extra fees, and charges range from $270 and higher depending on which options are selected.
- Premium Annual Passport: This season pass has no blackout dates and includes more merchandise discounts and free parking for $390.
Making the Most of Your Ticket
With so many options available, it is important to make the most of the ticket you purchase. Buying a ticket with privileges you will not use is unnecessary and can be expensive – be sure to take advantage of discount offers for souvenirs, hotel stays, and other benefits to make your Disney vacation truly unforgettable.
Disney theme park tickets are highly customizable, and prospective guests can personalize their vacation experience with just the type of admission they need. By understanding the different options and knowing what features are and are not included in each variation, guests can enjoy the signature Disney magic more easily.
