Master Blaster Water Slide
From LoveToKnow Themeparks
The latest splashtastic attraction at water parks around the world is the Master Blaster water slide, an exhilarating water coaster that offers guests one wild experience among the waves.
About Water Coasters
All water park guests are familiar with riding traditional water slides – trudging up hundreds of steps to sail down a descending chute. Whether the drop is steep or gentle, the curves, splashes, and dips are always heading down. Not so with a Master Blaster water slide: these innovative “water coasters” use patented hydro jets and water injection propulsion to propel riders through relatively steep uphill sections of the ride, creating a roller coaster type experience on a water slide. This gives the rides more flexibility and variety in design, since they are no longer limited by their maximum height and necessary continual descents. This also makes water coasters ideal for indoor water parks because they can offer high powered thrills without a high initial starting platform.
Several companies manufacture Master Blaster style slides, including Aqua Leisure International, Whitewater West Industries, NGBS International, and Biwater Leisure. Hundreds of Master Blaster slides can be found around the world at both indoor and outdoor water parks, and they are often voted the best attractions at popular water parks because of their uniqueness and adrenaline-inducing layouts. Some parks even use tamer versions of Master Blaster slides as people-movers throughout the park, creating a more exhilarating alternative to lazy rivers or waiting pools.
Finding Water Coasters
Many large water parks, as well as newer locations, offer water coasters. While at first parks were content to offer just one of these innovative coaster slides, many parks now offer multiple Master Blaster attractions. While “Master Blaster” is the recognizable industry name for these attractions, and several parks do use that name for the ride itself, any water slide that is referred to as a “water coaster” is a similar design. These unique slides are easily identifiable by their uphill slopes, safety nets or cages above open parts of the slide, and their long lines of eager riders. Parks that offer thrilling Master Blaster slides include:
- All three Schlitterbahn water parks in Texas
- Noah's Ark Water Park in Wisconsin Dells
- The Alton Towers Cariba Creek water park in England
- The Kalahari Water Park, Sandusky Ohio and Wisconsin Dells resorts
- Several Great Wolf Lodge locations, including the Mason, Ohio; Niagara Falls, Canada; and Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania locations
- Disney World’s water park, Typhoon Lagoon
- The Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas
- Castaway Bay in Ohio
- Sunsplash Waterpark in Mesa, Arizona
- The Jolly Roger Amusement Park in Ocean City, Maryland
These are just a few of the many different locations for Master Blaster slides, and each one has a unique layout specifically designed for the individual park location based on the park’s budget, guest profiles, available land, and other factors. While the mechanisms behind different water coasters may be similar, riding each one is a unique experience thousands of guests embrace each summer.
Master Blaster Water Slide Riding Tips
A water coaster is unlike any other passive water slide, and guests need to ride the slides appropriately for the safest experience to ensure they avoid any embarrassing or dangerous water slide oops.
- Follow all height requirement and rider restriction policies outlined by the water park.
- On multi-rider models (some Master Blaster slides can accommodate two, three, or four rider tubes), the heaviest riders should sit in the back.
- Feet should be facing forward down the slide and slightly elevated to avoid rubbing on the surface of the slide or in the hardest part of the water propulsion jets.
- Riders should lean back in their inner tubes and hold on to handles for added security and safety.
- Master Blaster slides are not generally appropriate for novice riders; do not coerce anyone on the ride who is scared, nervous, or unwilling to ride.
- Lines for these attractions can be long, particularly on busy days. Riders should stay hydrated while waiting for their chance to ride, and be patient and polite both with other guests as well as park employees.
With hundreds of installations throughout the world, Master Blaster water slide designs are popular thrill attractions at many major water parks and indoor water park resorts. With fun uphill climbs powered by jetted water, followed by plunges, dips, curves, spirals, and other adventurous features common to many types of water slides, these outrageous attractions are sure to offer fun for all their riders.
