Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom Theme Park

From LoveToKnow Themeparks

Not every theme park needs world class rides or Broadway entertainment to be a fun family destination - Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom theme park is a great example of a classic adventure park that may have a low profile but offers plenty of enjoyment.

Low-key Fun

One person’s boredom may be another person’s thrills, and visitors should not dismiss Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom’s seemingly simple attractions. There are many benefits to low-key parks – they are typically less expensive than major theme parks and they often feature more interactive games and attractions rather than rides that simply strap riders in for a quick thrill. Low-key parks are fun for the whole family and most family members can participate in all attractions, instead of being divided by height for the park’s best rides. Furthermore, simple parks are often less crowded than famous theme park destinations, and visitors can usually opt to pay only for the attractions they are interested in, rather than larger parks that charge an overall gate admission.

Visiting Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom Theme Park

This 17-acre southern California adventure park offers a range of attractions for guests to experience, all wrapped in an intricate Egyptian theme from the very moment visitors pass the detailed sphinx guarding the entrance.

Attractions

There are several popular attractions at Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom, including:

  • Miniature Golf: Guests can choose from four different 9-hole courses, each with a distinct theme and unique challenges.
  • Go Karts: Three high speed tracks – a grand prix, kiddie track, and banked Indy car race – put visitors in the driver’s seat for a fun experience.
  • Laser Tag: Teams compete for 12 minute rounds in a tricky black light environment in this high-tech tag.
  • Arcade: Dozens of modern and classic games are available in the park’s arcade, including video games as well as redemption games offering tickets for great prizes and souvenirs.
  • Play Area: Younger guests will delight in the massive children’s play area, complete with a ball pit, slides, and obstacle courses.
  • Amphitheater: Concerts in this specially designed, acoustic amphitheater offer entertaining thrills as an alternative to more vigorous activities.

Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom theme park also formerly hosted several carnival rides along a small midway, featuring a ten story Skycoaster attraction that blended skydiving and hang gliding into one split second double thrill. In September 2006, however, the midway and its associated attractions were permanently closed. There are plenty of other amusing options at this small theme park, however.

Water Park

One of the most popular areas is the water park, which includes more than 20 unique slides, one of which is said to be the tallest waterslide in the United States. Guests interested in other wet attractions can enjoy wave machines, tanning areas (perfect for southern California), and splish splash play areas and activity pools with fountains, water cannons, and other fun ways to stay cool and wet in the summer sun.

Tips

To properly enjoy Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom theme park, guests should allow enough time to experience different attractions even if lines are long. Even though the park may not be large, sunscreen is still recommended, particularly for the water park, and guests need to be sure to remain hydrated. Because the attractions are interactive and depend on guests’ participation, it is important to be courteous to other visitors. For example, when playing miniature golf, allow faster players to play through and avoid crowding other guests. By being polite to other visitors, all guests are sure to have a fun time.

Tickets

Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom is much less expensive than a traditional theme park, depending on which attractions visitors are interested in. Admission to the water park is only $12, and other attractions range from $1 to $5 (group parties can be arranged and may include discounts). Guests who want to visit just the arcade do not need to pay any admission charges. A word of caution, however: even cheap attractions can add up quickly, and visitors should carefully plan what they want to enjoy to keep their budget under control.
