About Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Located in San Antonio, the Fiesta Texas theme park became part of the Six Flags family in 1996. Today, the park consistently wins industry awards for its high quality entertainment and is a popular destination for guests from around the country. In addition to the popular roller coasters, the park also has a wide range of other thrill rides and family attractions, including many rides designed especially for younger guests. Another popular area of the park is White Water Bay, the included water park that is great fun for all ages.

The Coasters

A park’s roller coasters are indisputably the star attractions, and the Six Flags Fiesta Texas roller coasters offer a wide range of thrilling experiences for riders to enjoy. Today the park boasts seven exciting rides that use a variety of technologies and design elements to help make the park unique.

  • Boomerang: This classic shuttle coaster first opened in 1999 and continues to thrill riders as it propels them through a vertical loop and a cobra roll inversion, only to reverse course and challenge the same track backwards.
  • Poltergeist: Since 1999 this twisted coaster has been astonishing riders. Though it is less than 80 feet tall, the LIM launch and amazingly intricate track – the most convoluted in the park – reaches 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds and whisks riders through four crazy inversions and countless dips, curves, and turns.
  • The Rattler: One of the park’s oldest roller coasters and the only wooden one at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, the Rattler has rattled riders since 1992. From a maximum height of 180 feet, the coaster reaches 65 miles per hour and hugs the rugged terrain – including a tunnel through a limestone cliff – to deliver outrageous excitement with a rustic, western feel.
  • Road Runner Express: This crazy coaster opened in 1997 and includes a dual lift system to prolong the ride where the coaster is being chased by Wile E. Coyote. For two and a half minutes the Road Runner is in the lead, but the crazy antics make the fun last far longer.

  • Der Rollschuhcoaster: This family coaster opened in 1992 and is a gentle oval shape with mild curves and dips. Perfect for the whole family, the colorful track and bright trains make this ride enjoyable for novice riders.
  • Superman Krypton Coaster: Ever since it opened in 2000, this 170 foot tall coaster has been one of the park’s most popular. Its floorless design creates a very unrestricted ride experience, and along the more than 4,000 feet of track riders will brave six inversions at speeds up to 70 miles per hour -- all in just three minutes and twenty seconds.
  • Tony Hawk’s Big Spin: One of the park’s newest rides, this family spinning coaster opened in early 2007 with great success. Riders face one another and the individual cars spin and twirl along the curving track, letting guests experience the thrill of the famous skateboarding tricks of the ride’s namesake.

Tips for Riding Six Flags Fiesta Texas Roller Coasters

With so many fun coasters to enjoy, guests are sure to find just the right roller coaster to add to their thrill quotient. To enjoy the coasters safely, however, guests should follow these tips:

  • Be aware of minimum height requirements for each coaster. Guests must be at least 42 inches tall to enjoy Tony Hawk’s Big Spin, Der Rollschuhcoaster, and Road Runner Express; at least 48 inches tall for the Rattler and Boomerang; and at least 54 inches tall to ride Poltergeist and Superman Krypton Coaster.
  • All fragile and loose items such as cell phones, hats, bags, cameras, souvenirs, and other merchandise should be left with a non-rider or stored in a locker so they are not lost on the roller coasters. Guests with loose shoes, flip flops, or sandals should remove them before riding Superman Krypton Coaster.
  • Because the summer heat in Texas can be extreme, guests should stay hydrated and cool as much as possible and avoid riding the roller coasters if they feel dizzy, weak, or otherwise ill.
  • Because the park has very popular shows, roller coaster lines may be shorter during peak show times.
  • Flash Passes are available for every roller coaster except Der Rollschuhcoaster. The cost is $15 in addition to park admission, and Flash Passes are not available every day. The exact rides available with this exclusive front-of-line access may vary.

The Six Flags Fiesta Texas roller coasters offer guests a wide range of thrilling options when it comes to experiencing the best excitement in the Lone Star State, and park guests willing to try new rides are sure to discover the fast pace of Texas fun on these amazing coasters.
