Faraz - An individual with limited vision may not see the same visual details (scenery whizzing by, the height of the ride, etc.) but they would still feel the physical sensations of speed, inversions, and turns. Whether or not that makes the rides less terrifying really depends on if the individual likes those sensations or not -- many sighted people prefer to close their eyes on larger roller coasters, party due to fear and excitement and partly to heighten their own physical sensations. As for the safety of the ride itself, as long as the restraints were properly fastened and the rider behaved appropriately, the rides are as safe as they are for someone without visual impairment. Best wishes!

Hi there, I had a general question about how safe it is for a visually impaired person to ride large roller coasters, such as the ones in Orlando Florida's resorts. I contacted Disney World with this question and the woman I spoke with said that she thinks that roller coasters would be less terrifying for someone who couldn't see what was happening. But I want a more expert opinion.

Thank you for your time.

Ashleigh - Check out Causes of Roller Coaster Accidents for more information about safety procedures if there is an incident on a ride. As for the seat belt construction, they're made of industrial-grade materials for durability and strength (stronger than what are in cars, typically).
